The STAGE SwitchBlade SUP paddle is used similar to a kayak paddle while stand up paddleboarding. This method creates a steady rhythm, which provides better balance and increased maneuverability. These 2-sided SUP paddles are great for beginners learning to balance and for experts running rivers or paddling into currents and small waves. Once you try the STAGE Switchblade double bladed paddleboard paddle, you will not want to go back to a single paddle again.
My wife and I have wondered for some time why there wasn’t a kayak-time, 2-sided paddle for standup paddle boards. Imagine our surprise to find that there is in fact such a paddle, and that we could get from a company right here in Utah! When they arrived we couldn’t wait, and went right out on a windy afternoon to give them a try. After some trial and error finding the right length for each of us, we were off and running (ok, paddling). What a joy! So nice to stand up straight and move right along without having to switch sides every couple of strokes! And even though the tall paddle did catch some wind now and again, I actually found that I could paddle into the wind much better than I ever could with a single paddle! Oh, and given the wind there weren’t many other paddlers out, but those there were very interested to find out where what we thought about the 2-sided paddles, and where we got them; of course we were happy to enlighten them. We are leaving next week for 5 or 6 days of paddle boarding, and can’t wait to use (and show off) our Switchblades! Hopefully we’ll have some great pictures to share when we get back! Oh, and yes, Highly Recommended!
I bought two of the switchblade 2.0 paddles a year ago and they are nice but could use some improvements. Well consider it improved, the wobble in the joint is gone and it has proper angle on the blade now. Don't get me wrong the even with the wobble the 2.0 was a huge improvement over a single paddle. The wobble I can paddle twice as far with very little effort. The efficiency is so much better with a double setup. When paddling with a single you have to move the paddle forward and backward sure the backward stroke isn't under load but you still need to move it. With a double paddle as you finish one stroke the paddle is already falling into the proper position to start your next stroke. I highly recommend this paddle. You really need to try one or watch a video of one in action to see how great they are.
Top dollar no doubt but comparatively to competitors it’s worth it
Well made- paddles and looks great, just the right amount of stiffness and well balanced. Makes paddling in wind or current much easier and much easier to maintain balance in waves or chop or when the dog is onboard. No more having to awkwardly swing the blade over the dog and I can more quickly plant a brace when he moves or I catch an edge. Also much easier to avoid that rock that sneaks up on you. I get more out of my SUP workouts with it because I spend more time on power strokes and less on steering strokes. It’s such a game changer I’m able to use my SUP allot more. Well done Stage!!!
I have both the all carbon and the new 3.0. The 3.0 is a tad heavier then the carbon but it also doesn’t the flex that you have with the 4 piece carbon. I like both and think the new design is awesome and couldn’t be happier. I like both paddles and if I didn’t have the carbon I wouldn’t have noticed the weight difference. The only thing I would do differently on the new paddle is add the increments showing the paddle length from 1-10 like you have on the carbon. That literally is my only wish. Great job STAGE!!!
